My wife and I recently sold our house, and these gates were the deal breaker !! The buyer really wanted them... We love them... so off I went to the Walmart website to see if we can just get some new ones... YES!! These gates are simple, easy and very secure if installed correctly! So, now we have our new gates for our new house, and new baby (en route) I wouldn't only recommend these gates... we almost didn't sell our house over them!
This is the second baby gate we bough from walmart. Its great! Simple, effective, lightweight. I do a lot of online shopping, and walmart service is always fast, and shipping time always exceeds my expectations. Thanks for another great shopping experience!
After reading review after review of various wood hardware mounted swings, my head was spinning. I finally gave in and went with one of the lease expensive but well-rated models. It was a cinch to install and easy to use. It seems very sturdy. What really exceeded my expectations was that it stained beautifully to match my walnut colored oak banisters. I hated the idea of a hardware mounted gate on my beautiful woodwork but I couldn't be more pleased with the results. If it ever needs replacing for any reason, I would buy the same model without thinking twice.
I installed this gate at one end of the hall to block the dogs from the bedrooms. It's perfect! The gate looks good in use and is super easy for me to open and close. It fully swings in and out or slides in and when not in use folds against the wall. I appreciate that it does not have a fixed frame to the floor. It is paintable but I will use stain on mine.
This product is great for the elderly if you have one living with you. Its easy to open,no bending involved. Also great for the puppy to stay upstairs.
We like the looks of the gate, the fact that it swings two ways, and the one-hand feature. It was really hard to use at first, but when we pushed the catches down on the top and bottom, we've had no problems. My husband added a magnent feature and it stays out of the way when not engaged. Not bad for the money.
We bought this gate to keep our large Great Dane's from going up the stairs. We are able to come and go without removing or climbing over a gate. It was easy to install and works perfectly. We have purchased another one for our kitchen opening and are very satisfied with the ease of use and easy installation of this product and the reasonable price.
Our house is lovingly nicknamed "Grand Central" with 8 children of it's own, daycare, a home business, and being a hop, skip, and a jump away from school. The gates for our house had a lot to live up to. 1. Durability under high usage. 2. Ease of use. I didn't want my own children to feel 'trapped' or shut out/in and if you needed to get through - it HAD to be fast! No messing with adjusting things or by accident knocking it down. 3. I wanted it to look good. I want my house to be a "home". My stairwell was extra wide with wood trim and railing. I am pleased to say I found it with this gate and recommend it wholeheartedly! Not only does it protect my precious ones but it went above and beyond my aforementioned expectations! I now own three gates, plan on more, and it is the only one I will use. Easy to operate with ONE hand and removable when you don't need it. It's cost is comparable to other gates and I believe offers much "more for your money". I enjoy how it creates boundaries without feeling shut in/out. The kids can touch it without me being concerned that they will get hurt. When I cook, I put one up at the kitchen door. They can watch and talk to me, yet are safely not under foot or into things. This would make an awesome baby gift!
I agree that if you have baseboards at the top of your stairs you won't be able to install the bottom bracket of the opening side of this gate. If you look carefully at the product picture, you'll notice the baseboard stops right where they instaled the gate. My husband installed it anyway and it's holding up for now, but I think we'll need alittle extra support when my 14 month old gets older (and stronger). I think it is easy to open and close with one hand, so I'm satisfied.
I just bought two of these as they were on sale (30 dollars each). I tried to install the first gate and am very dissapointed at the quality of hardware included in the package. Installation is relatively simple. I followed exactly the advice in the package and pre-drilled 1/8" holes for the screws. Then i (tried to ) hand screwed the provided screws carefully into the pre-drilled holes; however, I was only able to screw in one properly. The second screw head completely broke off leaving 90% of the screw inside of my wooden stair post. I was surprised as i wasn't putting much pressure while screwing and it still broke. I thought maybe somehow i got one damaged screw and the rest will be fine. I fugured i'll stabilize the bracket with the broken screw somehow and carried on to install the next bracket.. this time extremely carefully.. BUT the next screw also broke off !! The door itself was quite flimsy aswell. I am returning both gates asap.
